The New Website!

If you’re finding your way to this site for the first time you may not know that there’s a new site where Randy is showcasing his work and selling his kits. That site can be found at – http://www.randycoopermodels.com. That URL used to point here but we moved it over to the new site about a month ago. I’m leaving this site here for now as not all of the content has moved to the new site.

Site Interruption…

We’re preparing to move the site from WordPress to a new location (and powered by Drupal, for those who care about such things). The new site will be chock-full of coolness including a new online store which should streamline the whole model-buying process for everyone.

The downside is that it is possible that the site will be down for one or more days while the transfer takes place. If that happens the site will still be available at wordpress.randycoopermodels.com until the transfer is done.

If you want a sneak peek at the new site go to rcooper.jayadan.com. It’s not done yet but you can get a preview of where the site is going.

THE LOWEST FORM OF HUMAN ON THE PLANET ARE THESE KIND OF PEOPLE!

1/48th scale Aries from 2001 A Space Odyssey

There’s a lot of really cool resin kits coming out these days.
With 3D printing, rapid prototyping, 3-D growing, the quality is nothing less than amazing.
We all gravitate to our preferences.
be it creatures, military, science fiction, etc…
Every year i have  my own personal “kit of the year” list.
Last year’s was TimeSlips’ Battlestar Galactica  (original).
This years kit is AJAModels’ 1/48th scale “Aries” from “2001: A Space Odyssey”.
It’s one of the nicest kits I’ve ever seen, not a bubble in site, every detail sharp and clean, and accurate? you bet!
it looks like an injection molded kit,
it even has retractable landing gear,
it’s 10 inches across making it a perfect size for the shelf.
not too big, not too small.
he’s working on the interior right now that will be sold separately.
I had the pleasure of meeting Adam Johnson a couple of weeks ago and he brought the kits for me to see (or drool over).
He has a wealth of information on 2001.
His father was a teacher who knew (and taught) Lawrence G. Paul, who was the Production Designer of Blade Runner.
Since they were good friends, his father asked Lawrence if he had any information on 2001, or, where to get it;
Adam has spent over 30 years researching the science of 2001.
Needless to say he got it, making this is the most accurate version of the kit to date and well worth the $325 price tag.
If your interested in one of these kits, contact Adam at: ajacoustics@yahoo.com
